Haitian music legend, Wyclef Jean has dished out the video to his song “Fela Kuti” off his his album “Carnival III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee“. According to Wyclef, the song is an ode to late Nigerian music legend, political and human rights activist, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
However, the lyrics nor the video contradicts this narrative and has failed to represent the iconic singer in anyway. The video which contains an allure of beautiful ladies paraded in carnival costumes have been considered by many Nigerians to be a complete failure.
Wyclef may have had the sweetest intentions, but this doesn’t sit well for many.
