Did you see this coming? obviously not. Omawumi teams up with Kiss Daniel on her debut single for 2018 titled Me Ke. The highly revered vocal powerhouse has shown she is not quitting music sooner than we thought when she broke her silence her with her album, Timeless, released last year. The project was a special and purposeful curation of nostalgia and versatility as well as sets her aside as one of the best vocalists of her generation in the African continent.
Omawumi continues on her Timeless roll with her new single and this time she has Kiss Daniel on it, who has been steadily making waves lately and spreading his wings by collaborating with other artists. We know this collaboration may not have happened if he had not taken the bold step of leaving his former label, Gworldwide Entertainment. The influence of the late legend, Fela Kuti is evidently felt on Me Ke as Omawumi addresses people’s sentiments about her becoming irrelevant in the music industry.
On social media, the songstress had this to say: “ME KE is loosely translated to mean ‘I No Vex’ and the chorus is culled from a popular Itsekiri folklore about the Brown Pidgeon. I been no vex when them say I don reign go and now as I dey look them from my scrapper…I still no vex. I just dey do my own dey go. ”
Me ke will definitely be on replay for me. What about you? Listen.
